Keyboard Shortcuts

A reference for every keyboard shortcut in Taktplan today — the always-available global shortcuts, the command bar (CLI)'s own keys, and the shortcuts that appear inside a note's editor. All modifier-key shortcuts use Ctrl on Windows/Linux and Cmd (⌘) on macOS, written below as Mod where that distinction matters.

Taktplan is a keyboard-driven tool for anyone with a physical keyboard — on a phone, none of the shortcuts on this page are active (there's nothing to press them with), and the app relies on its touch-first bottom tab bar and "More" sheet instead.

Global shortcuts

These work from anywhere in the app, including with focus inside a text field:

ShortcutAction
Ctrl+Alt+CToggle the command bar open/closed
Ctrl+Alt+IQuick-capture into your Inbox — opens the command bar pre-filled with inbox add , just type and press Enter
Ctrl+Alt+1Go to Inbox
Ctrl+Alt+2Go to Home (Dashboard)
Ctrl+Alt+3Go to this week's Todos
Ctrl+Alt+4Go to Calendar
Ctrl+Alt+5Go to Notes
Ctrl+Alt+6Go to Chat

The Ctrl+Alt+… shortcuts are deliberately layout-independent — they work identically on a German QWERTZ keyboard, a US QWERTY one, or anything else, and never collide with normal typing since nobody types that exact modifier combination as regular text.

There's also a bare ` (backtick) to open the command bar — but only when focus isn't already in an editable field (a note, an input, …), so a literal backtick can still be typed normally everywhere else.

The command bar (CLI)

Open it with ` or Ctrl+Alt+C, or the >_ button in the header toolbar.

ShortcutAction
EscapeClose the command bar (or, if a suggestion dropdown is open, dismiss just that)
↑ / ↓Step through your command history — or, while a flag-suggestion dropdown is showing, move the selection in that dropdown instead
TabAutocomplete: completes a partial path (cd, ls, cat, …) or a partial -flag, same as a real shell
EnterRun the current line — or, at a [Y/n] confirmation prompt (e.g. deleting something), confirm with a bare Enter defaulting to yes

See the in-app help and guide commands for the full list of what you can actually type — this page only covers the keys, not the command language itself.

Inside a note

These live-filtered dropdowns all share the same navigation keys — type to filter, then:

ShortcutAction
↑ / ↓Move the highlighted suggestion
EnterPick the highlighted suggestion
EscapeDismiss the dropdown without picking anything

This applies to: [[wikilink]] autocomplete, #tag autocomplete, the / slash-command menu, the /template picker, and -assign @user autocomplete (Teamspace notes only).

Text formatting

Standard Markdown-editor shortcuts, unchanged from Milkdown's own defaults:

ShortcutAction
Mod+BBold
Mod+IItalic
Mod+EInline code
Mod+Shift+BBlockquote
Mod+Alt+CCode block
Mod+Alt+0Paragraph (clear heading)
Mod+Alt+1 … Mod+Alt+6Heading level 1–6
Mod+Alt+7Ordered (numbered) list
Mod+Alt+8Bullet list
Tab / Mod+]Indent a list item
Shift+Tab / Mod+[Outdent a list item

Text color, highlight, underline, and font size/family are toolbar-only for now — reach them from the formatting toolbar above the editor, not a keyboard shortcut.

Typed syntax (not exactly a "shortcut", but works like one)

Some of the fastest ways to work in a note are typed directly, not pressed:

  • /todo …, /event … on their own line, submitted with Enter — see the in-editor hint that follows your cursor while typing one.
  • /template query anywhere inline to insert a reusable template.
  • /pdf, /docs, /img, /grid to attach a file, image, or insert a table.
  • [[Note Title]] to link to another note, #tag to tag the current note (only in its very first block).

What's next

A personal storage-usage limit, more Notes-area shortcuts, and printable/PDF cheat-sheet export are all reasonable future additions — none of them exist yet.
